Geoscape Southern Saskatchewan
Geoscape Southern Saskatchewan is part of the national Geoscape program initiated by Natural
Resources Canada “to better inform Canadians about important geoscience issues in their
communities”. A large format colour poster (30.5” by 51”), developed by federal (NRCan –
Geological Survey of Canada) and provincial (Saskatchewan Energy and Resources) governments
with assistance from universities, other government agencies, companies and individuals, was
printed in English and French in January 2004. One free copy has been delivered to each school in
the province. Teachers attending workshops (see below) will also receive free copies of the poster.
Poster components are available on the NRCan website. A companion
website (www.geoscapesask.ca) with curriculum-related resources is also under development by the
Saskatchewan Geological Society’s Geoscape Committee.
HELP WANTED: Teacher volunteers to help develop classroom resources related to the poster. For further information or to volunteer, email ideas@geoscapesask.ca.
